Armed Forces Pension Awareness Week 2024

Yes we’re back with our Armed Forces Pensions Awareness campaign which this year runs alongside the national Pension Awareness campaign throughout the week of 9-13 September.

Why does it matter to you? Planning ahead, ensuring you make the best pension choices is more important than ever. Armed Forces Pension Schemes (AFPS) are complex and that’s why we at the Forces Pension Society are treating Pension Awareness Week as such an important opportunity to brief you on what’s ahead, and to explain how we can empower you to make better informed decisions. When it comes to your long-term financial wellbeing, making the right choices for your pension is essential.

Never was our theme “it pays to understand your pension” more relevant to you and your future well-being.

Our campaign will include group presentations, webinars, myth busting, tips and facts, and collaborations with the Ministry of Defence on the 10 & 12 September. Our aim is to reach out to those serving, in resettlement, veterans, reserves and families.

The campaign is still taking shape but we can confirm the following dates and topics for the webinars to Serving Personnel with the MOD.

10 September: The Key Features of AFPS 15; How you can add to your pension; AFPS 15 Remedy – Understanding Remediable Service Statements. How to interpret the options plus wider considerations to ensure you make an informed decision.

12 September: Annual Allowance and Pension Saving Statements; Adjustment to tax for the AFPS 15 remedy period following ‘roll back; How it all works and what to expect in October 2024.

Details of how you can access these webinars will be announced nearer the time, so watch this space!

We urge you to take this opportunity to get involved – so do make a note in your calendar, and follow us on social media @ForcesPensions #AFPAW24 #ArmedForcesPensions
