Neil was delighted to board HMS Severn last week to brief the crew on their Armed Forces Pension Scheme. Severn is regenerating after a long period of scheduled maintenance, ready to return to the Fleet in patrolling UK waters. Future tasks will involve escorting and monitoring vessels of interest through UK waters, as well as providing a Naval presence around the UK and in ports not normally visited by larger warships. The crew are tasked with enabling the training of the Royal Navy’s navigation courses, including the prestigious Specialist Navigator course which sees students navigate in a range of confined waters with increasing complexity. With intensive training recommencing after Summer Leave, they should be operational in October, to rejoin sister ships, HMS Mersey and HMS Tyne.
