On Saturday 20 July FPS Pension Adviser Alisa Lakeman-Ford abseiled 100m down the Spinnaker Tower
“I will admit to a very dry mouth at the start and being slightly terrified when climbing over the barrier to perch on a ledge barely large enough for my feet and I don’t have big feet! When I got into it, I did enjoy the views and I was over all to quickly. Not forgetting my reason for doing this crazy thing, I am raising money for St Wilfrid’s Hospice in Chichester, a cause close to my heart. Caring for people coming to and at the end of their life and their loved ones is an incredible thing to do. I have personal experience of Hospices as do many people and I cannot speak highly enough of the staff, all of them; nurses and doctors, chefs, housekeepers, volunteers as well as the behind the scenes staff who keep the place running without much contact with patients.”
St Wilfrid’s receives 15% of it’s running costs from the NHS so each year needs to raise £6.45M to keep it’s doors open, and if would like to read more or donate to Alisa’s cause you can do so here.
