State pension for military spouses

Many news outlets have recently caught up with the fact that spouses (or civil partners) may be able to claim missing NI credits for years that they accompanied their serving husband or wife overseas.

It is certainly true that some people have not taken advantage of this benefit. At the same time it is sometimes not understood that this only applies to spouses whose date of birth gives them a state pension age after 5th April 2016.
