Reserve Service Q&A – Day 4

The issues that concern people who are leaving the Regular Armed Forces and joining the Reserve Service are probably easiest to understand if we handle this as they are raised with us, by way of Q&A, and today’s question asks…

Q. I have earned a deferred AFPS15 pension. What happens to it if I join the PTVR?

A. Providing you join the PTVR within five years of leaving Regular Service, your AFPS15 pension will remain ‘live’. That means you can carry on building your AFPS15 pension without having to requalify. If the break is over five years, you must complete the two-year qualifying period to be entitled to a further, separate AFPS 15 pension.
