Our Chief Exec met with Shaun Bailey MP in April to provide information on the Armed Forces Pension Scheme that could be fed into the PAC report on public service pensions.
The committee’s report has now been published here.
The report which reads across all public sector schemes also highlights the committee’s concern as to the adequacy of Armed Forces Pension benefits when members leave service, it quotes…
“We are also concerned that HM Treasury does not specifically consider whether armed forces pension scheme arrangements are sufficient to support personnel when it becomes time for them to move into civilian life”.
While this is not followed up with a recommendation to overcome this specific concern, it does help to highlight this critical aspect of the AFPS in supporting Armed Forces Personnel as they prepare for their post military careers.
We will continue to champion the Armed Forces Pension at every opportunity.
