Hello and Goodbye!

We are delighted to welcome new, and saddened to say goodbye to current members of the team

First of all, we hope you will join us in saying farewell to Andy Straw who leaves this week after seven years with the Society as Head of Membership. Andy has been paramount in leading the Membership team through an extremely busy last few years, and he is now heading off into a well deserved retirement. Andy said:

I joined the Society as Head of Membership in March 2015.  There were just 2 of us in the membership team then and 2 in the pension team.  I leave 7 years later with my own team having doubled in size and the pension team increased fivefold! During my time, it has been a period of unprecedented growth in terms of membership for the Society and as I depart, 2022 already looks like being another year of increases of members.  I feel lucky to have worked with some excellent colleagues and it has been a pleasure working for an organisation that works so hard on behalf of its members, who I have much enjoyed being in direct contact with on many occasions.  I’m leaving to spend more time travelling and living abroad, whilst improving my Spanish, and I look forward to watching the further evolving of the Society from afar as an FPS member.

Andy is being replaced by Charlotte Cooper who is moving over from the Pensions Team to take over the Head of Membership position on 1 April. Congratulations to Charlotte, who we know will do a great job!

We would also like to say a big welcome to Andy Keen who joins the team as a Pensions Consultant. A former SNCO in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers for 22 years, including 3 years as a welfare practitioner, Andy, after training, will be responsible for responding to pension enquiries from Society members, and providing them with the technical guidance they need.

We hope you will join us in welcoming Andy, we’re delighted to have him on board, and as we continue to go from strength to strength, we have no doubt he will be a great asset to the team!
