Earlier this week, FPS Chief Executive met with Defence’s Senior Enlisted Leaders in the MoD to discuss the Society’s vision, purpose and the Armed Forces Pension’s role in sustaining operational capability, providing a platform for a second career and, ultimately a dignified retirement.
The Senior Enlisted Leaders involved were:
WO1 Rick Angove – Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Chiefs of Staff Committee
WO1 Jim Wright – Senior Warrant Officer to the Royal Navy
WO1 Paul Carney – Army Sergeant Major
WO Jake Alpert – Warrant Officer of the Royal Air Force
WO Sara Catterall – Command Senior Enlisted Leader for UK Strategic Command
WO1 Nick Ollive – Corps Regimental Sergeant Major of the Royal Marines
The subject of Armed Forces personnel retention and improving understanding of the benefits and complexities of the AFPS was top of the agenda. Other topics included the AFPS 15 Remedy (McCloud), the ongoing Haythornthwaite Review into Armed Forces Incentivisation and how pension related communications could be continuously improved.
This was an extremely important and positive session, and we look forward to working with them all in the months and years ahead.
WO1 Jim Wright, Warrant Officer to the Royal Navy Tweeted:
‘Fantastic brief by Neil Marshall @ForcesPensions. Massively insightful and ‘It pays to understand your pension’. It can be a complex area made simple by Neil and his team.’
And that’s why we exist: to enhance Armed Forces Pension clarity for our Members and influence policy, now and for future generations.
