Get to know your pension!

Today, we’ll be concentrating on Serving Personnel, and what better way to start with briefly explaining the Armed Forces Pensions Schemes – do you know yours?

We often get asked what pension scheme am I on?’

So, today, we’ll start by helping you to better understand the different pension schemes, and find out what type of pension you have.

To begin, for those who are currently serving in the Armed Forces, there are four pension schemes you could have rights to:

AFPS 75 (Regulars only – entry closed on 05/04/2005)

AFPS 05 (Regulars only – entry closed on 31/03/2015)

RFPS 05 (Full Time Reservists only – entry closed on 31/03/2015)

AFPS 15 (All Regulars and All Reservists)

*Note: On 1 April 2022 all serving personnel became members of AFPS15, and all legacy schemes closed on 31 March 2022. You can read more about the AFPS15 Remedy here
