Volunteers for SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity come from all walks of life and careers. Some are serving or former military, while others come from miliary families.
Increasingly, though, volunteers for SSAFA come from a completely civilian background.
Take former teacher Alex Reeve-Howarth, who volunteers as a caseworker for SSAFA in Wiltshire despite having no military experience. Here, she explains her role and what sparked her interest in the UK’s oldest tri-service charity – and why she does it.
