In December the MOD launched a two-month consultation into three proposed amendments to the AFPS Ill Health Scheme: extending the right to request a review; aligning tier 2 payment dates; and clarifying the Tier 2 ill health condition.
The MOD states:
“These amendments are designed to address inconsistencies, improve clarity, and ensure equitable outcomes for all affected members. This consultation also explains the reason for the substantive amendments, sets out how it will be made and seeks comments on specific aspects of those changes.”
The FPS and other stakeholders have been invited to take part in the consultation and the MOD will publish its response no later than 6 March 2026.
