Results from the 2026 Armed Forces Continuous Attitude Survey (AFCAS) are now available.
Statistics from the annual AFCAS are used by both internal Ministry of Defence (MOD) teams and external bodies to inform the development of policy and measure the impact of decisions affecting personnel, including major programmes such as the Armed Forces Covenant.
Highlights:
- 42% of personnel are satisfied with their pension benefits – up 3% from last year
- Attitudes towards the basic rate of pay continues to improve
- Over four in ten personnel are satisfied with their Service life in general – up 3% from last year
- Satisfaction with responses to SFA maintenance continues to improve
The graph at Section 5 – Pay, Pensions & Allowances – shows the stats, and you will notice the commissioned/non-commissioned divide which remains significant.

The increase of 2% from 40% to 42% pension satisfaction compared to last year reflects the continued modest increase in overall pay and allowances satisfaction over recent years.
And while frustrations with the AFPS 15 Remedy (McCloud) remain, this is less of an issue with the serving community than it is for the veteran community which is not represented in this survey. You can read our latest Remedy Sitrep here.
As in previous years, these results continue to reinforce the importance of effective pension related communications to support the serving Armed Forces community to make fully informed decisions concerning their financial future.
