No. 4 Pension Enquiry TOP10

For Pensions Awareness Week – an example of the pension questions we receive, helping you better understand your pension.

Question:

If I accept an extension of service (VENG) but choose to leave before my revised end of engagement (EED), will I be penalised?

Answer:

If you are an OR, there is no penalty for accepting an extension of service and leaving before your revised EED.

If you are an OF, if you choose to leave on any date other than your EED your ’75 pension will be calculated using Premature Voluntary Retirement (PVR) rates, rather than Compulsory Retirement (CR) rates. The difference between PVR and CR rates are dependent on your length of service.
