Equiniti Letters

We are still hearing talk around letters being sent by Equiniti to members of the Armed Forces Pension Scheme, asking for verification/confirmation of identity.

We first reported on this a few weeks ago, as some of our members were worried it was a possible scam letter.

We would like to reiterate that the letter is not a scam, and if you receive one, you must not ignore it. If you do, it could result in the temporary suspension of your pension payments.

You may ask ‘why would I receive such a letter?’

To explain, if Equiniti (the people who pay Armed Forces Pensions on behalf of Veterans UK) have any correspondence returned to them from an address they hold for an AFPS member as ‘Gone Away’, an attempt to trace them is undertaken.

Once traced, the member is written to at the traced address, requesting completion of the declaration and confirmation of their new address so that their record can be updated accordingly.

If members do not respond, Equiniti are required to suspend the pension until such time that the member makes contact and provides details of their new address.

So, the message here is if you move house, tell Equiniti Paymaster – You can do that here and if you do receive a letter don’t ignore it!
