Tributes paid to Admiral of the Fleet Lord Boyce who has recently passed away.

The Society is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of The Admiral of the Fleet the Lord Boyce KG GCB OBE DL on 6 November 2022.

Lord Boyce was hugely supportive of the Society, so much so that he joined as a Vice President back in 2005, and was instrumental in achieving the right outcome in our 2014 Justice for Widows Campaign. He remained active with the Society’s work until his recent death, and the legacy of his work will undoubtedly be felt for years to come.

The Royal Navy has paid tribute to Admiral The Lord Boyce, and First Sea Lord Admiral Sir Ben Key said:

“Admiral of the Fleet Lord Boyce had served the Royal Navy and the Nation with distinction for over four decades. From commanding three submarines and a frigate at the height of the Cold War, through to the highest level of command as First Sea Lord and then Chief of the Defence Staff, he was a deeply professional and respected military leader. However, his remarkable life’s accomplishments spread far beyond Defence through the many organisations and causes he supported right through to his last days.  The thoughts of the entire Royal Navy are with his family at this time.”
