This week marks one of the most important periods in the Forces Pension Society calendar – Armed Forces Pension Awareness Week (AFPAW).
Our Roadshow Manager will start the week in Catterick Garrison, Neil will be delivering his first presentation at the Fondouk Rooms, Cambrai Lines, from 10:30. This will set the tone for the days ahead, with the aim firmly set on increasing awareness and understanding of the AFPS among the Armed Forces community.
From there, it’s down to RAF Brize Norton, one of many highlights of the week. Our Chief Executive will be briefing the Station Command Team at 0930, followed by two presentations at the Community Centre, starting 10:30 and 13:30. We’re fortunate to be joined by an MOD Pension Expert, who will be on hand to provide personalised, one-to-one guidance to those attending. We’re especially grateful to the Station Commander for hosting what promises to be an invaluable day of engagement and learning.
Wednesday is the Bournemouth Career Transition Partnership (CTP) Fair, at the Bournemouth International Centre. This event focuses on supporting service personnel on their resettlement journey, offering practical advice as they prepare for life beyond the military.
Thursday is another major event, Neil will deliver a presentation at the MOD Main Building, starting at 11:30. At the same time, our Head of Pensions will be on the road, briefing the Late Entry Officer Course at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. The week concludes with a visit to Lympstone for the Royal Marines annual Families Day, where Neil will be on hand to chat with serving personnel and their families, answering questions and helping them navigate AFPS benefits.
AFPAW is about making our Armed Forces community feel empowered and informed about one of the most valuable benefits of service: their pension.
