Following further coverage in The Times online on Sunday, awareness of the Armed Forces pension overpayment issue quite rightly continues to grow.
The response from veterans and the wider community has highlighted the growing number of members being asked to repay overpayments through no fault of their own.
As our Chief Executive, Neil Marshall OBE, said:
“The overpayment recovery exercise should stop now. There appears to be significant contractual and quality assurance failings that lie with the MoD and operational failings by the contractors Sopra Steria and Equiniti. Between them they need to sort this out, absorb the costs of their errors and not offload the financial impact onto those veterans who have acted in good faith.”
This campaign is about ensuring that accountability sits with those responsible for the errors, not with veterans who relied on the information they were given.
