Armed Forces’ Pay Review Body Publishes it’s 51st Report 2022

On 19 July the Armed Forces Pay Review Body released its annual recommendation report regarding Armed Forces pay.

The Government has confirmed that it is ‘accepting the recommendations in full for the 2022 Pay Round.’

Pay awards are as follows:

  • 3.75% for all ranks up to 1* (Brigadier, Commodore, Air Commodore)
  • 3.5% rise for those of 2* and above.

Defence Secretary Ben Wallace said:

“This pay award supports wider recruitment and retention and addresses the requirements of smaller but highly skilled Armed Forces whilst recognising affordability.”

We expect the online calculator to be updated to reflect the new rates of pay once they have been formally confirmed.

Alongside these rises, which should be backdated to 1st April, there are a number of uplifts to Recruitment and Retention Payments, but such payments are not generally pensionable.
