Election Manifestos published – so what for the Society and its Members?

A message from the Chief Executive:

You will all be aware that on the 22 May the Prime Minister announced that there would be a General Election on Thursday 4 July.

As we have said before, either a Spending or full Defence Review seems likely over the next year or so, but having reviewed the main party manifestos, at this stage the Society can see nothing that signals direct or substantive change to the Armed Forces Pension Schemes, Annual Allowance, or the recently abolished Lifetime Allowance tax charge. Of course, should that change either before or once the outcome of the General Election is known we will engage appropriately, representing the interests of our members and the wider Armed Forces community.

Our policy position remains firmly rooted in our 5 Pillars model shown here which links to career structures and operational effectiveness.
