AFPS Presentation – some useful follow up information

Thank you to those who joined our Armed Forces Pensions (AFPS) brief today 13 November ’24. We hope it offered some clarity to what is a complex subject, and it left you better informed.

We would like to add at this point that we are often asked why our presentations are not recorded. We do understand that many of you would be keen to see a recording, but we must recognise that over time policies and circumstances can change, and therefore future viewing of old recordings could potentially lead to making financial decisions based on outdated information.

We have however provided you with this follow-up with some useful links, forms and guidance which we talked about in the presentation. We cover how to keep an eye on your pension entitlement, know who to speak to and when, outline how and when to apply for your pension, and other pension topics you might find useful. Just click the links for more…

Your Armed Forces Pension: understanding, claiming and other useful topics

Key benefits of AFPS15

Preserved/Deferred pensions – the rules

AFPS Form 12 for requesting an annual pension forecast (Serving): you need to complete the Form12 and send it to Veterans UK (address included on the form). Alternatively, there is a digital AFPS Form 12 on DefNet which allows you to complete a pension forecast request on your MODNet laptop/pc and you will receive your forecast directly to your MODNet email address. The digital AFPS Form 12 must only be completed on a MODNet device. Forms sent to Veterans UK from a personal email address will not be accepted. The digital form can be accessed through DefNet by typing, “Digital AFPS Form 12” into the search bar.

AFPS Form 14 for requesting an annual pension forecast (Veterans)

APFS Form 8 for claiming your pension: we must reiterate that YOU must remember to claim your pension. MoD/Veterans UK will not remind you. As at July 2024, there remains 14,000 veterans unclaimed pensions. We encourage to share our ‘Call to Action’ here with anyone you think might be entitiled, helping us spread the word.
